New Music Monday Presents: Jason Howard aka Wavy J

One our FIRST submissions from a singer who our very own “Goal Digger” Key went on about and  so I went and took a listen. Wavy J, real name. Jason Howard is a young 22 year old male singer from Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
He sings songs, writes poetry, produces, and he can rap. Singing since he was 10 and spitting the rhymes since 15, J (I’m gonna call him J) wrote his first song ever in 10th grade and it was called “What’s Going On” but it was never recorded.

Wavy J’s music is definitely a sensual sound that us ladies appreciate from our R&B…which brings up his first song that featured his friend Courtney J called “Ladies Appreciation”. You can find his music here:http://www.reverbnation.com/wavyj

He says he wants his music to change and help they way we think and feel. He hopes that some (not all) his music conveys some sort of message that can affect a person’s life. For now he’s will continue as an indie artist until he is signed to a major label. “I feel that being signed to a major label will give me a larger platform to express my work. I plan to have a long career, no "One Hit Wonder" ha ha” J said. He wants his listeners to know that his music is sincerely from his hear and he would not record a song unless his heart was really in it.

So what’s next for wavy J? He has a solo EP coming out for us at the end of the summer, entitled "Back To The Essence" He says in this go round he will be displaying a closer scope of himself  and targeting R&B stereotypes. It'll be available on DatPiff, HotNewHipHopl LiveMixtapes, and of course we will let the people know more about that when it is time.

His advice to other indie artist: “As an indie artist, my advice to those who seek becoming one is to use this time to soak up as much knowledge/experience you can. Take any creative chance you can imagine, try to find YOUR sound, and most importantly, take advantage of ANY opportunity that comes your way, because it's someone out there who will take it for you.”

Last message to anyone else and Goal Diggers Team from Wavy J:

“ I just want to simply S/O to My family, friends, and EVERYONE who has been supporting me, this is only the beginning. As far as you guys, keep doing what you're doing, because any small step can accumulate into giant leaps!”

“Its A Cold World” Young Jeezy [Tribute to Trayvon Martin]

“Its A Cold World” Young Jeezy [Tribute to Trayvon Martin]

Yesterday, George Zimmerman was found “Not Guilty,” in the murder of the 17 year old, unarmed, Trayvon Martin. Men, women, sons and daughters went to social media and even the streets to protest and express their views on this injustice. Members of the hip hop community such as, Ice Cube, Meek Mill, Lil Scrappy, The Dream, Solange, Rihanna and MORE all spoke out on the matter, demanding a change.
Nevertheless, Young Jeezy decided to pay homage to Trayvon Martin and his family by releasing “It’s a Cold World,” a few hours later. Take a listen and let us know what you think!
Meanwhile, you can help provide justice for Trayvon Benjamin Martin by signing this petition at http://www.naacp.org, courtesy of the NAACP to file civil rights charges against George Zimmerman and by praying for the family of Trayvon Martin.

The Magna Carta Holy Interview

HOV IS BACK!  Today, Brooklyn’s finest, Jay-Z, released his new and much anticipated album “Magna Carta Holy Grail.”  But that’s not all, sources have confirmed  Hov has already taken on his very first interview with Power 105s, The Breakfast Club which will air Wednesday morning at 7am.
The Breakfast Club is essentially known for their tough questions and for all the biggest names in hip hop stopping by, but never has Jay-Z sat down for an interview with the crew, making this a HUGE deal. Fans and stans are now wondering, “Will Jay-Z be interviewing with Hot 97 tonight then?”
Jay-Z is noted to have a very close relationships with DJs over at New York’s Hot 97and even reported to their long time DJ and his close friend, Ebro, to clear up the rumors about Beyonce’s recent “pregnancy.” On top of all of that, Hot 07 and Power 105 have one of the biggest rivals in radio history.
According to sources, Hov is expected to sell around 400K units on top of the 1 million records already sold from his 4th of July pre-release with Samsung. Magna Carter Holy Grail includes features from Beyonce’ (who hilariously refers to herself as “Third Ward Trill,” on the album), Nas, Justin Timberlake, Rick Ross, Frank Ocean, and more. Pharrell, Timbaland, and Swizz Beats also did most of the production on the new album.
So, I guess the question for now is, “Who gets the first Magna Carta Holy interview?” Will it be Hot 97 or will it be Power 105? Comment down below and let us know what you think!

New Music Monday Presents: Catastrophic Bee

                                          https://soundcloud.com/catastrophicbee
                                                http://youtu.be/keYYBho2R_k

Brittini, or how you and I will have grown to know her “Catastrophic Bee”, is a 21 year old female rapper from Norfolk, VA that I was immediately engaged in from her style and her conscience music. Going through tons of submissions I admit I did skip over a few just  to get to hers, all I seen were male MC’s…and well ladies first. She blew my mind with just one little video she sent in, a freestyle inspired by one of my favorite rapper Nas. She is one of Key and I’s favorite submissions and soon we have a surprise for her…but we won’t be revealing that to her or our readers until later…oh the Goal Diggers love surprises!

Her first song ever written was a song called Juicy and she was always into rap but started late 2012 and early 2013 and this song was her favorite because she said it had all her emotions in it.
“I'm so entrigued by music so I would never want to keep it under wraps. I honestly feel like I have something to say to the world so I want everyone to hear me. ”

She has aspirations of going mainstream and someday getting signed with her music so that her family will be taken care of. She even talked about starting her own label to someday sign her own artist. Currently she’s working on her mixtape but has many Youtube videos and music on soundcloud.

I asked Brittini what is it that  her new listeners should know about her music and she said “You'll never what's next- shit I barely know what's next. I would like to consider my music spontaneous. Some lyrics are emotional, some may be inspirational, some are sexual it depends on my mood and what I want to do.”

The advice she gives to other aspiring rappers:

“Work hard, keep perfecting your craft. Learn that feedback is great and useful, but most importantly you must remember to differentiate between good feedback and bad feedback. Some people don't know what they're talking about, some people don't have an ear and don't even listen to lyrics, and the others are fucking haters. The best advice I've gotten so far was from Yandy Smith and she said  "Stay close to a DJ" and that’s very important because a DJ is gonna crank your song and put you out there. Last but not least, make something that can be played on the Radio. Without Radio hits, you have nothing.”

Catastrophic Bee gave a special shoutout to the Goal Diggers team:

“I appreciate this opportunity to be on your blog. I'm so grateful and yall are so cute lol but really I feel special. Keep doing your thing. I love to see my sisters doing big things. That's love.”
